Scarier

By Adam Burr and Gary Burr

There's a monster underneath my bed
Saying "you can always count on me"
There's a nightmare hiding in my closet
Where else should a nightmare be?
I keep thinking any day they'd be gone
But I've been living with them now for so long
With friends like these
What could be
Scarier?
They're here for me
What could be...Scarier?
I'd hear snakes slide across my floorboards
You might think that would be a fright
A bed sheet ghost floating out my window
For me just another night
When witches came I would not be eaten
I was taught witches could be beaten
With friends like these
What could be
Scarier?
They're here for me
What could be...Scarier?

We've been playing this game for so long
We've become quite familiar to you
Don't forget if you let down your guard
We'll still do what monsters do
We are dragons and beasties galore
Such a dark metaphorical zoo
We knew to survive in this world
you must be a monster too
We made you a monster too

Strange sounds coming from my attic
Strange shadows dance across my lawn
I've learned to sleep with one eye open
Still sleep soundly till the dawn
In the morning when the headlines daunt me
I remember all the spooks that haunt me
With friends like these
What could be
Scarier?
They're here for me
What could be...Scarier?
